Where are we?
Our hotel is located in Elechas, Cantabria. A village nestled between the green meadows of Marina de Cudeyo and the Bay of Santander, it’s 5 kilometers from the beaches of Somo, Loredo, and El Puntal. The hotel is situated on the southern edge of the bay, opposite the city of Santander. It’s an ideal place to relax, unwind, and enjoy the wonderful nature of Cantabria.
Our location places us in a unique spot between the Bay of Santander and the area designated as the Special Conservation Zone (ZEC) Dunas del Puntal y Estuario del Miera covers several natural features on the coast of Cantabria, specifically in the municipalities of Marina de Cudeyo and Ribamontán al Mar. This unique environment includes the dunes of El Puntal in Somo-Loredo, the mouth of the Miera River through the Cubas estuary, as well as the islands of Mouro and Santa Marina.
Within this landscape of great conservation value are diverse habitats of interest, such as stable and mobile dunes, sandbank areas constantly covered by shallow sea waters, early marsh vegetation, and coastal scrub.
Carbon footprint
The Carbon Footprint is the environmental indicator that quantifies the total amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) released into the atmosphere by the direct or indirect effects of a specific organization, product, or service throughout its value chain, and expresses them in tons of CO2 equivalent emitted.
Carbon footprint analysis provides quantitative and qualitative data on the impact of a specific activity on the climate and is therefore the first step toward developing an effective and measurable risk management strategy.
Based on the recorded activity data and the emission factors presented previously, in this section we quantify and document the emissions generated as a result of the development of the activity of the Sur de la Bahía Rural Hotel during 2021.
The total carbon footprint resulting from the accommodation activity, according to the information received, is 0 tons of CO2 equivalent emitted into the atmosphere as a result of their activity.
Therefore, the development of the accommodation activity has not generated greenhouse gas emissions during the reporting period. Below, we detail the aspects of this result.
